東吾妻について - 新巻

The work was created for a duo Exhibition "Wandering Wonder" in Aramaki Gunma Japan in 2025.
I use the water from the gallery in this painting. Watercolours are always necessary to use water, and I all time use the native water, especially when I drawing about the land's image. Before starting to create, I went to see and research around the gallery

About Aramaki:
The land belongs to a part of the Agatsuma river, and it used to be pastured by many horses for raising over 1100 years ago. Nowadays, we cannot see any horses in this land, even though some horses were tribute to the Emperor annually. Especially when borns a white horese gift it to the Emperor.
Because of this reason, the land's name is New(Ara) Pasture(Maki).
Locals educate me that there is another place with Old(Ko) Pasture(Maki), a more southern place from the gallery.

群馬県の吾妻郡東吾妻町で2025年に開催した2人展「Wandering Wonder」展のために制作した作品です。ギャラリーの水を活用して本作品を着彩しました。水彩絵具は水を必要とします。特にその土地をテーマとする作品を描く時は、いつもその土地の水を使います。制作に入る前は、会場となるギャラリー周辺をリサーチしました。
新巻について：この土地は吾妻川の一部にあり、1100年以上前は、馬の放牧地とされていました。現在では残念なことに、この地で馬の姿は一頭も見られませんが、年に数頭良質な馬は天皇に献上していました。特に白い馬が生まれると天皇に贈っていたとのことです。
About Gallery Newroll: the gallery was built by Yuji Nishijima, who is a sculptor, and moved to Gunma in 2021. He renovated an old house into a cafe gallery. Nowadays, New Roll Gallery was his first personal project. The place became one of the landmarks of the Agatsuma area. Every exhibition and artists are chosen by himself. I am honoured to be exhibited here.

ギャラリーニューロールについて：
このギャラリーは彫刻家の西島雄志さんが2021年に群馬に移住して作り上げた場所です。古民家を改装して、カフェギャラリーとしています。東吾妻町における西島さんの最初の個人プロジェクトとなったこの場所は、現在では東吾妻町の名所の一つとなっています。展覧会やアーティストはすべて西島さんがご自身で選考をしています。このギャラリーに出展できたことを光栄に思います。

The crystal bowl player visited to see our exhibition, and she came back again to play with her crystal bowls! That was an amazing moment for us!
